Maison des Compagnies

Maison des Compagnies is a location dedicated to rehearsals for dance and theater companies in Meyrin.

Mandate

Create the logo and the visual identity of this arts center, as well as its offshoot in merchandising products.

Challenge

Create a logo and identity specific to Maison des Compagnies, in connection with this and those of the Foundation of Meyrinoise du Casino, the owner of the premises.

Design and production

To convey the vocation of the premises dedicated to the performing arts and the art of creating in the visual identity of the Maison des Compagnies, we have chosen to use strong, distinctive colors and the simplest geometrical form, the circle, with the idea that it symbolizes a receptacle, like a theater.

The versatility of the latter - a rehearsal room in this case - is represented by the different colors used for the many disciplines. We chose a very readable typeface, a "signage" typography, to show off, as directly as possible, this locale dedicated to the performing arts, and open to the greatest number.

The acronym for the Maison des Compagnies – MDC – has been reworked to become a logo: the different parts of the spelling of the three letters have become the building blocks of the logo. This is "open", and thus contains a movement, representing the arts on stage, taking hold of and transporting the spectators.

The logo of the Maison des Compagnies, thus created, made it possible to form the basis of a graphically interesting motif because it is infinitely adaptable. The elements of the logo, combined or separated, allow the display of the visual identity of the MDC over any media. This new visual language, built on the concept of movement, was then applied to all the communication media of Maison (website, merchandising, stationery, etc.)
